"Babyville" by Jane Green review

Babyville is spectacular novel exploring world of three London girls reaching motherhood and how it affects each of them differently. Having read first time, i enjoyed the triumph in the end after all the heartbreaking break-ups, misunderstanding, humiliation and yearnings to have different life.
Julia, journalist working London's big time television company having successful career and married to heart throbbing rugged lawyer, in other words living a perfect life except just one thing. She was unhappy and her life was dull going through same cycle everyday compared to cheerful partying life she had before she met with Mark, her boy friend for 4 years. She was outgoing, independent, sociable, and extrovert liked to be surrounded by people all the time but now she is temperamental loner with full of mess. It was affecting Mark just as badly as Julia. She wanted to have baby with her partner to save their broken relationship even if it is unfair for a unborn child. They tried desperately and tirelessly to have a child but it just did not happen. Maybe it is time for them to pick up a spoon and try different flavors or maybe not.
Maeve, also journalist who coincidentally replaced Julia's post because she was taking sabbatical trying for baby. She puts career before anything else. She is used to sleeping with a man in authority to have a promotion. Having grown without father, she looked up to her mother for role model and a best friend. She was master at seducing man and using it for her advantage too. However, the turning point came just when she was aiming for CEO of the Television company. She became pregnant from Mark, Julia's boyfriend, after having chat one or two hours in bar. It was either accidental and not planned for they had instant passion for each other at the moment. The baby was a last thing on Maeve's mind and she is planning an abortion but should she tell Mark that he is a father? and How would Mark react when he knows he had a baby with someone other than Julia?
Sam is small plump woman who likes to laugh loud(sorry for poor description). Sam is graphic designer and just took maternity leave from work when she gave birth to George, likes to call him GeorGenius. Actually her newborn son was only thing holding the relationship with his husband. She was fed up with him for being boring and not charming and on top of all earning exactly same wage when she married with him 6 years ago. Suddenly, she met Dan, tall, handsome and wealthy married journalist in newspaper. He melted her heart first time she saw him. She fantasized about kissing him and irresistibly attracted to him. After meeting him couple of times she schemes a plan get together with Dan and divorce her yet-to-be-ex-husband Chris. But is it really worth it? Is Dan thinking same things as Sam's? Can he be really as good as he looked?

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy - review

i read hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy just some time ago. this is fascinating tale of sci-fi world where you are are guided around to see things beyond your imagination such as gigantic ugly space ogres who likes writing poems and read to you and gold fish who can translate any space language when it is attached inside your body. When you start reading this half century old sci-fi thriller, you just can't put it down for any long time because there is always unexpected, dangerous and almost impossibly fortunate live-saving or stomach churning horrible incidents are about to happen.
The story begins with single middle aged Londoner Arthur who has one best friend called Forde. But one day Vo.. something space creatures come to the earth with big space ship and warned the earth people that the planet earth is about to be destroyed in less than five minutes. By the way announcer's voice was as horrible as his face as his face has shown in huge television on spaceship.
The interesting thing was Arthur's one and only best friend Ford happens to be alien and came to earth accidentally and became Arthur's best friend during his 25 year's life on the earth. So Ford took Arthur with him into Vo...'s space ship and together they hitchhiked into the Galaxy.
Not long after they boarded the ship are they discovered by those Vo.. creatures captain who was meanest biggest and ugliest of all others. Even though Arthur the earth man liked his poem they were thrown out into the open galaxy. And again they were picked up by infinity engine space ship when they were in the space for exactly 29 seconds. The two hitchhikers met Marvin the depressed robot(very bright and depressed...) and Beeblebrox and Trinita, two other crew members of the ship.
Zaphod is galaxy president and Ford's half-brother and he has two head. He stole this one and only ship in the whole galaxy and searching for planet made of gold. After many many days of travelling at light speed they find the glamorous golden planet. The planet was just bare waste land but travelers find they way in through crack made by sperm whale ; the whale hit the ground from the planet's atmosphere.
Under the surface they met architect who designed Norway. According to the book the Earth was the super computer built by another super computer named "Deep thought" which was greatest computer in the galaxy and only surpassed by The earth. Many million years ago this planet's inhabitants created super computer "Deep thought" to ask life's ultimate question "what is meaning of universe, life and everything?". So the "Deep thought" thought about it for ten million years and answered "42". And "Deep thought" explained that the Earth which it will build would answer and explain the inhabitant's question and answer thoroughly.
And this book has five series and "Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" is the series one. I can not guarantee you exact details of the book since i wrote it from my memory. Please leave comment about what you thought about my review.
